He whakamārama - Explanation by Earthfeather

Legacy refers to the child generation or diamond generation. They are leading and aware of the CON/MATRIX we are living in.
I refer to these children as being the true leaders. We need them to take over from these outdated ideals.

I wrote this waiata when I was living in Tokoroa.
At the time I was working for a post - Waitangi Settlement Iwi Organisation.
A lot of the land in Tokoroa was originally Māori land confiscated after the Māori land wars in the early 1900s. The use of the land is being converted from timber plantations into dairy farms at a rapid rate and large scale. Not only here but all over Aotearoa.
The dairying industry has adverse effects on Papatuānuku (Mother Earth) and Ngā Awa (Rivers) including Waikato, Waihou, Waipa, te taiao and Mana whenua kaitiaki (land guardianship) values.
Whilst living in Tokoroa I saw a lot of people who were depressed because of poor living conditions or lost in the processes of policy e.g. the benefit I thought about the politicians writing all these frameworks to further trap our people in written laws.
Then I thought about how these people of power think they are above everyone else.
In this song I depict that following or going along with their false ideals will lead to a crumbling castle. When in reality we just need to step back and trust the child generations teachings. We need
to listen to them and allow them to be nurtured to remain pure hearted.
