He whakamārama - Explanation by Rob Ruha (2014)

This song was born out of a need to explain the fundamental reason why Te Whānau a Apanui oppose deep sea and inland drilling and mining in our territories so powerfully. That is, our identity is intrinsically woven into and our natural environment. Therefore “Mai anō” simply states that: I am the mountain, the oceans and the land - that is how it has always been and will always be.
